About Search Engine Optimization ( SEO )

SEO or Search Engine Optimization is a tool used to increase the number of visitors on a webpage or a blog.

What is the purpose of SEO?
Well, it is to make your content more visible on the SERP (Search Engine Result Page) so that more and more people click on it. Not just this, SEO also helps in improving the quality of the visitors.

The Importance of SEO:
It is evident from many types of research that the quality of the content matters a lot for its success. However, there is a little problem.

Imagine, you have an excellent interactive website with high-quality content, but it appears nowhere on the SERP. How on earth will you get visitors?

No matter how well your content is, if it doesn’t reach visitors, it won’t get the success it deserves.

Visitors or users of your website are essential because you rely on them, and SEO helps you in bringing them to your website.

Remember, visitors prefer a properly optimized website, and they trust the information it provides.

Therefore, you can beat your competition by using SEO correctly – surely but not effortlessly.

One of the two websites with the same business can increase its revenue to multiple folds by implementing the right SEO techniques.

How Search Engine Operates:
When you type a query in the search bar, there is a whole process at the back end that takes you to the desired results. It contains three steps: crawling, indexing, and algorithm.

• Crawling:
There are specific programs run by search engines called web crawlers. These crawlers search the internet for the available data when you type in the query. They are also known as spiders or robots, and their task is to scan and find the webservers. They check the number of pages a website has, follow the links and keep track of the amendments made in the website.

• Indexing:
After the crawlers have done their job, the information thus moves forward to be organized and stored before it appears on the SERP. It is put into a repository known as an index where they are processed.

• Algorithm:
The last step is to identify which pages to be shown and in what order. Here ranking algorithms come handy. They are considered as software which decides what the query is about, and how it would appear. The decision depends upon the information that is found in the index.

Keyword Research:
In search engine marketing, keyword research is one of the most important and valuable activities on which your whole effort for SEO is based on.

They can make or break your content. If you have proper knowledge of keyword demand in the market, you know what to target and how to target it using the right keywords.

How to Do Keyword Research?
First of all, select keywords that are best suitable for your business.

Think like a user and try to identify what would you write in a search box if you are looking for a particular piece of information.

Study your competitors and check what keyword strategy they are using.

Select a few keywords that are relevant to your business and have high search engine volume.

However, keep in mind that getting traffic isn’t everything. The more important thing is to get the right traffic – the one that converts.

Don’t forget to consider your target geographical area while choosing the keywords. You can judge shifts in people’s demands and know how these demands are affecting market conditions by the use of proper keyword research.

On-Page Optimization:
It is considered to be the first step of search engine optimization that everyone who wants to rank their website good should know.

With the advancement in search engines, it has become necessary to implement these techniques. Some of the on-page optimization techniques are:

• Title Optimization:
The title is the first thing that is indexed and shown by the search engine. It should not be too long but informative enough to tell people about your business or you. An attractive and perfect title will encourage the visitors to read more while appealing the search engine to rank you above other websites. Sometimes, it is helpful to add your site or your business name in the title along with some prominent keywords.

• Meta Tag Optimization:
Create a Meta description or tag containing information about your website focusing on things in which your field is specialized.

• Image Optimization:
Adding graphical data or images enhance your content and make it more appealing. However, larger images can slow down the loading speed of your website, which is not good due to many reasons. Optimizing images will increase the chances of your website to get a better rank on the SERP.

Internal Linking:
It is the process of linking various pages within your website.

Internal linking is a convenient way of improving navigation through the website and determining its hierarchy.

• How To Do Internal Linking?
For creating a lot of links, you have to develop a lot of content. Your linking strategy relies on the marketing strategy you are following.

Use anchored text rather than using images to create links. It’s okay to use images for this purpose, but they shouldn’t be the only links available.

Try to avoid linking your content to the homepage and contact us tab as they already have links to many other pages.

Don’t just link because you want to, link your content to the pages that are relevant. It is not practical to load your website with hundreds of links, so, be careful.

Off-Site Building or Link Building:
This technique is used to signal Google that your website contains quality content and is worthy enough to be on the top.

• How To Do Off-Site Building or Link Building?
Networking with people and building connections with them take some time. However, it is useful to link your content to people who are interested in it.

First of all, make a list of bloggers who have relevant and authoritative websites. Start building a connection with them.

One thing you can do is to make exceptional content so that others would like to link your content instead you ask them.

Make a partnership with businesses that are not your competitors, link their content, and in return, they’ll link yours.

Conclusion:
Search Engine Optimization is not an option. To overcome the competition and make your position strong on the SERP, it has become a necessity to optimize your content.
